James & Vilija

Mum and Lizzie arrived in Genova two (three by now) Thursdays ago. A little late but were treated to a lovely European spring day when they did finally reach Genova. Vilija met them at Milano and accompanied them on the train back to Genova and their accommodation.

We had found them a lovely little bed & breakfast right in the centre of Genova called L’Albero. L’Albero is run by Adriana who, fortunately doesn’t speak much English and allowed Mum & Lizzie to put into practise their Italian that they swatted up on before coming. (more…)

Hi all,
This is my first attempt at a blog post I’ve decided to treat this a little as a journal and a little as a letter back home so please forgive any ramblings!

Its not yet been a week and yet so much has happened. I arrived in Italy last Wednesday (6 days ago). My first taste of Italy was an introduction as to how things work around here. I arrived at Rome airport, found the gate from which I was to depart for Genova, then decided to ring James to announce my safe arrival. One of the fist things James asked me was how I found passport control. I said that I figured that I would go through that in Genova as I didn’t go through customs. He asked if I’d shown my passport to anyone, yes one cop briefly glanced at the front cover of my British passport, “well, you’ve passed passport control”!?!?!!! (more…)

Well, hotel Manners/Jokubatis is now open and business is slowly increasing. This week brings Tim and Sam. They are my old flat mates from Montreal who we caught up with whilst we were in the US last November. They are on a holiday here in Europe and at the same time have dropped in to say hello here and on Thursday are off to Germany to say hi to Sam’s family.

They were supposed to arrive on Friday at Genova however due to a series of unfortunately incidents they arrived in Verona and then drove the 1.5 hours to Genova and the 1 hour in Genova trying to find our house. (more…)

Well, its Sunday afternoon and unusually I am not sitting here wondering what to write, but rather how to cover everything in sufficient detail without requiring those who read the following to devote a week to find the end.

In short in the past two weeks I have been to EuroFlora, Nice, Monaco/Monte-Carlo, Cinque Terra and a friend from university Amie has come to stay for a little under a week. (more…)
