A Day in Photos

Sunday, June 17th, 2007

Well after a long time we have put some of the best photos from our wedding up on flickr for all to see. There are some brilliant shots of everyone and they really show how much fun everyone including us had!

At the moment there are 120 photos, so you can either browse through them by clicking here or see a slide show by clicking here.

If by chance you have any good photos from the day we would love to see them. Drop us a line and we can work something out. :D

Stuffed Anchovies

Sunday, January 21st, 2007

It would be nice to say that we are now fully recovered after our trip to Roma. We are both back at work now and life is pretty much back to normal other than a persistent cold that I have. We can nearly celebrate our three week anniversary! Between you and I, though, the relationship is starting to wear thin. This week, the cold and I enjoyed each other’s company with a hearty cheasty cough. It was at its worst last Thursday where I had most of my colleagues at work fitting ear plugs. Without wanting to jinx myself, as of this evening I think I might be winning. I am weaning myself of cough syrup and even managed to go swimming this morning with Vilija.

One thing that quietly passed under the radar was the official 1 year anniversary since I arrived in Italia last year. The 6th of January is La Befana here in Italia. A public holiday where a nice witch on a broomstick brings lollies and sweat things to kids throughout Italia. Though after a year here, I didn’t make it onto La Befana’s lolly list. :( Maybe next time? (more…)

Venezia

Monday, November 6th, 2006

About a month ago when I started making inquiries about what Vilija wanted for her birthday, she made the suggestion to go to Venezia. The last time I was in Venezia was 4 years ago and it didn’t leave the best impression. It was cold, smelly and you couldn’t see the hand on the end of your arm thanks to the fog. Needless to say I tried passive and then not so passive resistance to the idea. With a distinct shortage of better ideas we decided to go. After a short time I was actually claiming the idea as mine ;-). What’s a better birthday present than a romantic weekend away on your birthday in Venezia?? (more…)

Lago di Como

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

In the second exciting instalment of Mum and Lizzie come to Genova, our story takes us to Largo di Como in search of George and his villa.

In a brief interlude, the big news of the early part of last week was that our part time cat/food processor, also known as the cat known as Fatty, developed a nasty infection of the eye. This then developed into an equally large and nasty infection on her head.

Upon discovery, Vilija was horrified and locked her in the house whilst she ran up the street to the local vets. There the vet kindly made an appointment straight away to see her. Returning to our house she collected up the cat and walked back to the vet. (more…)

Corsica

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

August, empty august… Its a time when Europe shuts down, everybody goes on holidays and normally buzzing metropolises become ghost towns complete with rolling tourists being blown down the main street by a hot northerly wind. At risk of boredom we decided to join the mass temporary migration and planned a holiday to Corsica & Paris with Vilija’s friend from Paris, James (henceforth referred to as Paris James) and his girlfriend Malene.

Stage one in the grand plan was to meet Paris James in Milano. He arrived on a cattle plane (mistakenly labeled as Ryan Air) from Paris and we wondered around Milano, the first real time for all of us. This was our first introduction to Europe in mid August. The Sydney of Italia was empty, streets that were death traps when I was there waiting for my flight last time were perfect spots for a spot of backyard cricket. (more…)

In Ferie

Sunday, August 6th, 2006

This is just a very quick post as we are cleaning the house and getting ready to head of for 1 week of sun and SAND (yes people, thats right… SAND!!!!) in Corsica. Its now the middle of August and time for Europe to shutdown for two weeks, so if you can’t beat them, join them ;)

To save time, I will post a brief summary of our recent adventures in photos…

Last weekend we went to an amazing little town just past La Spezia called Lerici. It is similar in a lot of respects to Portofino and was full to the brim of people on holidays. It had such a lovely vibe that Vilija and I decided that we would move there, Vilija will open up a clothes store and I will find some luctritive online business that I can run from anywhere. Definitely worth a visit when your in the area!
